Course Details

Course Content:

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator.
  • Working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific machine.
  • Be able to locate and identify the machine’s major components and explain their functions.
  • Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
  • Conduct all pre-operational checks following manufacturers and legislative requirements.
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Roller use.
  • Prepare the Roller for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
  • Environmental considerations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation.
  • Carry out all end-of-shift and shut-down procedures.

Course Duration

Novice Course – 3 Days (Maximum of 3 candidates).
Refresher Course – 1 Day (Maximum of 3 candidates).
Experienced Worker – 1 Day (Maximum of 3 candidates).

Assessment

Theory assessment made up of open questions and multiple choice.
Practical assessment.

Accreditation

NPORS (Traditional) Operator Card - 5 Year Expiry.
OR
Crestmoor Training (in-house operator card & certification).

Things to know

We deliver this training at our Centre in Wincanton, however we can deliver the course at your site if you can meet the off-site training requirements.

For the Experienced Workers Test (EWT), candidates must profile themselves with the instructor on their previous experiences using the piece of plant being tested.

How do I know if I am classed as experienced?

Do you provide PPE for me to wear during my training?
Each delegate is responsible for bringing their own PPE on the day of the training. A comprehensive list of requirements will be included in your course joining instructions.
