HSE guidance requires that a competent person tests all portable electrical appliances and tools on a regular basis in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, the risks associated with usage and the likelihood of damage.
Many organisations find it cost effective to provide a member of staff with the competence to carry out these tests. Our PAT course provides both theoretical information and practical training in the use of test equipment and the testing process for portable appliances
Course Content:
– Legislation – Health and Safety at Work Act etc 1974 & Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
– PM32 and other relevant HSE Guidance Notes and Publications
– Theory on possible faults; diagnoses; use of Portable Appliance Test Station
– Test station calibration and recording of results
– Practical application of test station
– Summary and short practical assessment
